Approach

We’ve spent years developing a holistic, evidence-based model to help teams and organizations build trust quickly.

The Loom Way

Our model of trust-building is based on five core principles:

We grow better together.

Building on Lev Vygotsky’s theory of social constructivism and Larry Michaelsen’s team-based learning framework, Loom employs small group dynamics to enhance new learning and cultivate deeper levels of connection, belonging, and trust. In addition to learning better this way, the small group structure cultivates deeper and richer community and internal networks at work by enabling individuals who wouldn’t normally interact to get to know each other on a deeper level.

Social
Learning

There are no quick fixes.

Inspired by James Prochaska and Carlo DiClemente’s transtheoretical model, our approach emphasizes thoughtful, intentional work over time within a supportive community. The longer timescales of our programs allow key insights and skills to be internalized while trust and belonging grow organically.

Ongoing
Work

We build trust at scale.

Harnessing the power of network effects and positive social contagion theory, Loom’s peer learning model is designed to empower participants to propagate the skills and insights they learn back in their communities and organizations. Following a “learn, do, teach” approach, participants might learn a new technique for having difficult conversations well. But after learning and practicing themselves, they would then be trained in how to share the technique with their own teams. Eventually, this cascade of learning could lead to an entire culture shift toward healthier and more effective communication.

Expert
Facilitation

We learn from the best.

Loom partners with a diverse set of world-class experts like Dr Jade Wu, a sleep psychologist whose work is at the cutting edge of sleep science and executive coach Melody Wilding, an expert in imposter syndrome. Our facilitators guide and inspire participants using the latest techniques from modern science and the richest insights of the wisdom traditions.

Virality

Trust can’t be taught.

Trust is built when people come together to solve problems, share ideas, and support each other through success and failure. We help to accelerate this process by creating supportive spaces for our participants to have good old-fashioned conversations about big ideas and challenges we all share like wellbeing, creativity, purpose, and authenticity. When you leave a conversation about the challenges of imposter syndrome, for example, and multiple coworkers share how much they appreciate you and your unique talents, it’s darn near impossible for your trust in each other not to grow.

Centered Conversation
